Massage therapy offers a natural treatment approach focused on the relief of musculoskeletal pain. Our office offers specific massage, bodywork, and muscular therapy tailored to your specific condition and injury. More than pampering, massage and bodywork reduces stress, increases blood circulation, relaxes muscles, and aids in injury recovery and range of motion. Our services complement other approaches including chiropractic care and acupuncture.
In recent years, we have begun to understand that much of our health is related to stress. High stress leads to other physical and mental issues. Massage and bodywork can alleviate stress which, by extension, improves sleep, energy levels, and blood circulation. The result is an emotional balance that is as vital as the physical benefits of massage.
Our therapists work with you to determine the best bodywork approach. We will thoroughly explain the massage techniques, expected benefits, and any possible side effects. If you have not experienced bodywork before, we will be sure to make your visits comfortable.
For a typical session, you will undress or wear loose clothing. At all points, be sure to be aware of your level of comfort. If at any point, you feel pain, be sure to let your therapist know. Some discomfort may be experienced, but the overall sensations should be ones of relief and relaxation. Your session can be as short as 10 minutes, but typically we will work with you for 60-90 minutes, depending upon your schedule, physical needs, and the type of massage performed.
Massage is more than an indulgence. Research is demonstrating that massage is a powerful approach to general wellness. The physiological and chemical changes enacted throughout the body can reduce pain. Even severe arthritis sufferers have reported strong benefits from massage. Circulation and pulmonary functions can improve and blood pressure can be lowered. These results lead to other significant health benefits, including a more active lifestyle. Combined with chiropractic care, acupuncture, exercise, and improved nutrition, massage is an integral part of physical and emotional wellness.
Bodywork is becoming an integral part of medical care. It is used to treat chronic diseases, neurological disorders, and injuries, as well as to alleviate the stress of modern lifestyles. As the medical community embraces bodywork, massage is becoming an integral part of such services as hospice care and neonatal intensive care units. Hospitals have incorporated on-site massage practitioners to treat post-surgery or pain patients as part of the recovery process. All of this points to the emerging recognition of the importance of bodywork.
Finally, massage is not limited to just those times you have pain. In fact, regular massage is an investment in your health. Consistent bodywork leads to physical and mental well-being. You deserve to be strong, flexible, and energized. Your health is important to us. We will work with you to develop a regular appointment schedule that will reap benefits for life.
